An Chloen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG ENG FRE
Bey der Liebe reinsten Flammen,
Glänzt das arme Hütten-Dach:
Liebchen! ewig nun beysammen!
Liebchen! [schlafend]1 oder wach!

Süßes, zärtliches Umfangen,
Wenn der Tag am Himmel graut;
Heimlich klopfendes Verlangen,
Wenn der Abend niederthaut!

Wonne dort auf allen Hügeln,
Wonn' im Thal, und Jubel hier!
Volle Freyheit, zu verriegeln
Unsre kleine Hütten-Thür!

Lobgesang in Finsternissen,
Wo kein Neider sich versteckt,
Wo nicht mehr, indem wir küßen,
Jedes Lüftchen uns erschreckt!

Und wir theilen alle Freuden,
Sonn' und Mond und Sternen-Glanz;
Allen Segen, alles Leiden,
Arbeit und Gebet, und Tanz.

So, bey reiner Liebe Flammen,
Endet sich der schöne Lauf;
Ruhig schweben wir zusammen,
Liebchen! Liebchen! Himmel auf.

Aan Chloë
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
In de hut op dak en ramen,
Glanst de liefde puur en vroom:
Liefje! Eeuwig nu tezamen!
Liefje! Wakend of in droom!

Zoet in liefdes klem gevangen,
Als in 't zwerk de dag net grauwt,
Heimelijk kloppend zacht verlangen,
Als de avond daalt en dauwt.

Vreugde ginds op alle heuvels,
Vreugd in 't dal en jubel hier!
Volle vrijheid, om met deuvels
Af te grend'len ons kwartier!

Juichgezang in duisternissen,
Waar geen nijdas ons nog strikt;
Waar niet meer, terwijl wij kussen,
Ieder zuchtje ons verschrikt!

Alle vreugden voor ons beiden,
Zon en maan en sterrenglans;
Alle zegen, al het lijden,
Arbeid en gebed en dans.

Onze tocht krijgt zo zijn amen:
liefde vlamt puur als een kaars;
Rustig zweven wij tezamen
Liefje, liefje, hemelwaarts.
