  Wie so milde, wie so gut!
Holde Lippen, klares Auge,
  Heller Sinn und fester Muth.

So wie dort in blauer Tiefe,
  Hell und herrlich, jener Stern,
Also er an meinem Himmel,
  Hell und herrlich, [hoch]¹ und fern.

Wandle, wandle deine Bahnen;
  Nur betrachten deinen Schein,
Nur in Demuth ihn betrachten,
  Selig [nur]² und traurig sein!

Höre nicht mein stilles Beten,
  Deinem Glücke nur geweiht;
Darfst mich niedre Magd nicht kennen,
  Hoher Stern der Herrlichkeit!

Nur die Würdigste von allen
  [Soll]³ beglücken deine Wahl,
Und ich will die Hohe segnen,
  [Segnen viele]⁴ tausend Mal.

Will mich freuen dann und weinen,

com n’és de dolç, com n’és de bo!
Llavis encisadors, ulls clars,
esperit lúcid i ferm coratge.

Així com allà, al profund atzur del cel
hi ha aquella estrella, clara i magnífica,
ell també és al meu cel,
clar i magnífic, alterós i llunyà.

Segueix, segueix el teu camí,
tan sols contemplar la teva llum,
tot just contemplar-la humilment,
em fa estar feliç i trista a la vegada!

No escoltis la meva silent pregària
dedicada només a la teva ventura;
no m’has pas de conèixer, a mi, pobre noia,
tu alterós estel de la magnificència! 

Tan sols la més digna de totes
pot satisfer la teva elecció,
i jo beneiré la sublim escollida
molts milers de vegades.

Després restaré contenta i ploraré,
seré feliç, feliç aleshores,
encara que se’m trenqui el cor,
trenca’t, oh cor! Què importa?
