Du hast zum Trinker mich gemacht, Du schöne Kellnerin! Ei, ei, wer hätte das gedacht, Da ich so jung noch bin? Und klag' ich an den süßen Wein, Den sie in's Glas mir gießt? -- So klag' ich an den Vater Rhein, Bei dem die Rebe sprießt. So klag' ich an den Sonnenstrahl, Thau, Regen, Luft und Wind, Die doch auf Erden allzumal Des Himmels Gaben sind. Und klag' ich an ihr Schelmgesicht, Ihr blaues Augenpaar, Ihr Mündchen, das auch schweigend spricht, Ihr goldnes Flechtenhaar? -- Sie hat ja ihren schönen Leib Sich selber nicht gemacht, Und in dem Grabe liegt das Weib, Das sie zur Welt gebracht.
