Treugedenken
Language: German (Deutsch)

Mein Lieb hat gold'nes Wellenhaar[,]
ein Grübchen in den Wangen,
in ihrem hellen Augenpaar
des Himmels Sterne prangen.
Es gab mir mit auf meinen Weg
ein Löcklein ganz von Golde,
daß ich es mir aufs Herze leg
und denke dein, du Holde!
Wie soll mein Lieb' ich denken dein?
Du schreitest mir zur Seiten,
in Wald, in Feld, im Sonnenschein,
und wenn sich Schatten breiten.
In dunkler Nacht hör' ich dein Lied,
dein sanftes süßes Grüßen;
wenn eine schwarze Wolke zieht
die blauen Blümlein sprießen!
Die Erde ist ein grüner Saal,
ich schreit' mit dir im Reigen!
die kleinen Vöglein allzumal,
die singen in den Zweigen!

Faithful Remembrance
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
My love has golden curly hair,
A dimple in her cheek,
In her bright eyes
The stars of heaven stand resplendent.
Upon my journey she gave to me
A curl of pure gold,
So that I could lay it upon my heart
And think of you, you lovely one!
My love, how shall I think of you?
You stride at my side,
In forest, in field, in the sunshine,
And when the shadows spread.
In the dark night I hear your song,
Your soft, sweet greeting;
When a dark cloud scuds
The blue flowers spring up!
The world is a green hall,
I stride with you in a roundelay!
All of the little birds
Sing in the branches!
