Der Gewitterabend

O die roten Abendstunden!
Flimmernd schwankt am offenen Fenster
Weinlaub wirr ins Blau gewunden,
Drinnen nisten Angstgespenster.

Staub tanzt im Gestank der Gossen.
Klirrend stößt der Wind in Scheiben.
Einen Zug von wilden Rossen
Blitze grelle Wolken treiben,

Laut zerspringt der Weiherspiegel.
Möwen schrein am Fensterrahmen.
Feuerreiter sprengt vom Hügel
Und zerschellt im Tann zu Flammen.

Kranke kreischen im Spitale.
Bläulich schwirrt der Nacht Gefieder.
Glitzernd braust mit einem Male
Regen auf die Dächer nieder.

Soir d'orage

Ô les heures rouges du soir !
À la fenêtre ouverte tremble et vibre
La treille qui s'embrouille dans l'azur,
Où nichent les spectres de la peur.

La poussière danse dans la puanteur du caniveau.
Le vent frappe les vitres en vibrant.
Comme une troupe de chevaux sauvages
Les éclairs poussent des nuages éblouissants.

Le miroir de l'étang éclate bruyamment.
Des mouettes crient au bord de la fenêtre.
Un cavalier flamboyant saute de la colline
Et se fracasse dans les sapins en flammes.

À l'hôpital les malades crient.
Le plumage bleuté de la nuit bourdonne.
Tout d'un coup dans un grondement étincelant
La pluie tombe sur les toits.
