loquar in amaritudine animae meae. 
Dicam Deo : Noli me condemnare :
indica mihi cur me ita judices.
Numquid bonum tibi videtur, 
si calumnieris me et opprimas me,
opus manuum tuarum, 
et consilium impiorum adjuves?
Numquid oculi carnei tibi sunt : 
aut sicut videt homo, et tu videbis?
Numquid sicut dies hominis dies tui,
et anni tui sicut humana sunt tempora,
ut quaeras iniquitatem meam, 
et peccatum meum scruteris?
Et scias quia nihil impium fecerim,
cum sit nemo qui de manu tua possit eruere.

Mon âme est fatiguée de ma vie, 
je donnerai libre cours à ma plainte,
je parlerai dans l'amertume de mon âme. 
Je dirai à Dieu : ne me condamne pas ;
Dis-moi pourquoi tu me juges de cette façon.
Est-ce qu'il te semble bon 
de m'accuser faussement, de m'opprimer,
moi qui suis suis fait de tes mains, 
et d'aider le projet des impies ?
Est-ce que tes yeux sont de chair,
ou vois-tu comme un homme vois ?
et tes années sont-elles 
comme les jours des hommes ?
que tu t'enquiers de mon iniquité 
et que tu fouilles mon péché ?
Et tu sais que je n'ai rien fait d'impie, 
et qu'il n'y a personne qui puisse libérer de ta main.
