Sieht man sie verzaubert stehen
Wasser schöpfen, wenn es dämmert.
Eimer auf und nieder gehen.

In den Buchen Dohlen flattern
Und sie gleichet einem Schatten.
Ihre gelben Haare flattern
Und im Hofe schrein die Ratten.

Und umschmeichelt von Verfalle
Senkt sie die entzundenen Lider.
Dürres Gras neigt im Verfalle
Sich zu ihren Füßen nieder.

Puiser de l'eau, au crépuscule.
Les seaux montent et descendent.

Dans les hêtres, les choucas volette
Et elle ressemble à une ombre.
Ses cheveux blonds volette
Et les rats crient dans la cour.

Et séduite par la décomposition
Elle baisse ses paupières irritées.
De l'herbe sèche en décomposition
S'incline vers ses pieds.
