Flieg', Vöglein, durch den Böhmerwald
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Flieg', Vöglein, durch den Böhmerwald,
So weit du kannst in Hast
Und setz' vor meines Liebsten Haus
Dich auf den [grünen]1 Ast.
Und tritt er dann vor seine Thür
Und fragt: "Was, Vöglein, bringst du mir?"

Und fragt: "Was, Lüftchen, bringst du mir?"

Fly, birdlet, through the Bohemian...
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Fly, birdlet, through the Bohemian Forest,
As far as you can, in haste,
And in front of my beloved's house
Sit down upon the [green]1 branch.
And if he then steps forth in front of his door
And asks: "What are you bringing me, birdlet?"
Then you just chirp and do not be shy:
"Oh listen gently to my singing,
That is a greeting from her!"

Little breeze, travel through the Bohemian Forest
And far into the country,
Waft about my beloved’s house,
Knock at his chamber.
And if he opens the window to you
And asks: "What do you bring me, little breeze?"
Then [play about]2 his cheeks and mouth
And say: "[And]3 do you not realize,
That is a greeting from her!"
