Сину зора, а ја још код двора,
Дан превали, а ја у лов пођох,
Ја на брдо, а сунcе за брдо;
Ал' на брду под јелом зеленом
Ту бијаше заспала ђевојка;
Под главом јој снорак ђетелине,
У њедрима два б'јела голуба,
А у крилу шарено јеленче.
Ја ту остах ноћцу преноћити:
Везах коња за јелу грану;
Коњу дадох снопак ђетелине,
А соколу два б'јела голуба,
Мојим ртом шарено јеленче:
а мен' оста лијепа ђевојка.

Noch im Hof fand mich die Morgenröthe
Auf der Jagd die vorgerückte Sonne,
Auf dem Berge war ich -- sie dahinter,
Als ich unter einer grünen Tanne
Fand ein schönes Mädchen eingeschlafen.
Eine Garbe Klee lag unter'm Haupt ihr,
An dem Busen ihr zwei weiße Täubchen,
Auf dem Schoose ein geflecktes Hirschlein.
Hier, des Nachts zu übernachten, blieb ich,
Band mein Rößlein an die grüne Tanne,
Meinen Falken an die Tannenzweige,
Gab die Garbe Klee dem guten Rosse,
Gab dem Falken die zwei weißen Täubchen,
Meinem Windhund das gefleckte Hirschlein,
Und mir selber blieb das schöne Mädchen.
