Translation by Georg Friedrich Daumer (1800 - 1875)

Die Blicke deiner Augen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Arabic (العربية)
Die Blicke deiner Augen,
O meine schöne Freundin,
So wie sie sich nur einmal
Den meinen zugelenkt, --
Ach diese Zauberblicke,
Die leuchtenden Geschosse,
Die mörderischen Pfeile
Mit süßem Gift getränkt! --
Sie haben ohne Zorn mich,
Sie haben ohne Feindschaft
Mich also schwer verwundet,
Mich also tief gekränkt,
Daß schon von Sterbedunkel
Mein irres Auge flimmert,
Daß sich mein Haupt ermattet
Zu Tod und Grabe senkt.
