by Sándor Petőfi (1823 - 1849)
Translation by Karl Maria Kertbeny (1824 - 1882)

Zöld leveles, fejér
Language: Hungarian (Magyar)
Zöld leveles, fejér
Virágos ákáczfa,
Kék ruhában szoke
Kis lyány van alatta;
Megeredt az eso,
Annak végét várja,
A pitarajtóból
Kacsintgatok rája.

Gyere be, galambom,
Gyere a szobánkba!
Mig eláll az eso,
Ülj föl a ládánkra;
Ha magas a láda,
Rája felültetlek;
Ha kemény az ülés,
Az ölembe veszlek.

Dort unter'm Baum dem grünen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Hungarian (Magyar)
Dort unterm Baum, dem grünen,
  Deß Blätter schneeweiß sind,
Dort steht im blauen Kleide
  Ein zierlich blondes Kind;
Der Regen hat ereilt sie,
  Abwartend, harrt sie dort, --
Ich blinzle nach der Schmucken,
  Ihr winkend leis sofort.

So komm' herein doch Täubchen,
  Komm ins Gemach, ins Haus,
Ruh', bis sich stillt der Regen,
  Hier aus der Bank Dich aus;
Ist sie zu hoch Dir, heb' ich
  Hinaus Dich, holdes Kind;
Doch, ist zu hart sie, nehm' ich
  In meinen Arm Dich lind!
