Das Sonnenlicht kommt durch's Fenster geflogen,
Küßt mich und lacht:
"Guten Morgen."
  "Ach, liebes Licht,
  Rufe doch nicht,
  Siehe, die Sorgen
  Schlafen ja noch!
  Willst du sie wecken,
  Daß sie mich schrecken?
  Spät erst hat sie die gütige Nacht
  Singend und schmeichelnd zur [Ruhe]¹ gebracht.
  Da hab ich geschlafen und träumte so schön:
  Von lachenden Kindern, von Sonne und Veilchen ...
  Willst du nicht noch ein zögerndes Weilchen
  An meiner Kammer vorübergehn?

« Bonjour. »
« Ah, chère lumière,
N'appelle donc pas,
Vois, les inquiétudes
Dorment encore !
Veux-tu les réveiller
Pour qu'elles me terrorisent ?
C'est tardivement que l'aimable nuit
Par ses chants et ses caresses m'a conduite au repos.
Je me suis alors endormie et j'ai fait de si beaux rêves :
D'enfants qui rient, de soleil, de violettes ...
Ne voudrais-tu pas encore pour un petit instant
Passer à côté de ma fenêtre ?
