Ihr, Freunde, und du, goldner Wein! Versüßet mir das Leben; Ohn' euch Beglücker wäre fein Ich stets in Angst und Beben. Chor. Ohne Freunde, ohne Wein Möcht' ich nicht im Leben seyn! Wie Manchen seh' ich nach dem Kuß Des spröden Liebchens streben; Doch folget nicht auch Überdruß Dem Wechsel-Küssegeben? Chor. Ohne Freunde, ohne Wein Mag ich nicht bey Mädchen seyn! Wer Tausende in Kisten schließt, Nach mehreren noch trachtet, Der Freunde Noth, und sich vergißt, Sey reich, von mir verachtet! Chor. Ohne Freunde, ohne Wein Mag ein Andrer reicher seyn! Celui qui en enferme des milliers dans sa cassette, Qui cherche seulement à en avoir plus, S'oubliant lui-même ainsi que la misère de ses amis, Qu'il soit riche ! et méprisé par nous ! Sans amis, sans vin, Qu'un autre soit riche ! Sans amis, qu'est-ce que le héros ? Que sont les magnats du royaume ? Qu'est-ce que le seigneur du monde entier ? Ils sont tous de pauvre conseil ! Sans amis, sans vin, Je ne voudrais même pas être empereur. Et si un jour dans le futur Mon âme doit s'envoler de mon corps, Alors faites-moi signe depuis le paradis, Un de mes amis et le jus de la vigne.
