Ohne zu klagen Kann man's ertragen. Wenn man dabei Immer lustig und frei! Bin ja die Christel von der Post! Mein Amt ist herrlich, Wenn auch beschwerlich. Auf die Adresse kommt viel an; Wenn's ein galanter, Recht ein charmanter Wird es fatal oft dann und wann. Statt Rezepisse Gäb' er gern Küsse; Pfiffig jedoch benehm' ich mich da! Lass' ihn vor allem 's Porto erst zahlen. Sage dann lachend zu ihm: ja, ja! Einen Kuss Wenn ich muss. Nur nicht gleich, nicht auf der Stell' Denn bei der Post geht's nicht so schnell Mein Schatz, der Adam aus Tirol, Liebt mich unbändig, glaub's ihm wohl. Ob er mir treu ist, will ich nicht fragen, Dass er kein Geld hat, das kann ich sagen. Seh' ich ihn wieder, Pocht's mir im Mieder, Wird mir so dumm Und ich weiß nicht warum? Bin halt die Christel von der Post. Er meint es ehrlich, Fragt unaufhörlich Wann ich ihm folge zum Altar. Er sagt: «Ich nehm' dich.» Ich sage: «Schäm dich!» Wären doch komisch wir als Paar. «Du hast zu wenig, Ich keinen Pfennig- Denke nur, wenn einst Kinder da!» Treibt in die Enge Mich sein Gedränge, Sage ich lachend zu ihm: «Ja, ja! Muss es sein, Werd' ich dein; Nur nicht gleich, nicht auf der Stell', Denn bei der Post geht's nicht so schnell!»
