Er grüßt seine beiden Frauen
ehrerbietig von weit -;
und alle, voll Vertrauen,
stehn auf zur Ewigkeit
und warten nur noch auf Erich
und Ulriken Dorotheen,
die, sieben- und dreizehnjährig,
(sechzehnhundertzehn)
verstorben sind im Flandern,
um heute vor den andern
unbeirrt herzugehn.

il réveille ses treize fils
dans le tombeau des ancêtres.
Il salue ses deux femmes,
de loin, avec déférence ;
et tous, emplis de foi,
se lèvent pour l'éternité
et attendent Éric
et Ulric Dorothée
qui, à l'âge de sept et treize ans,
(en seize-cent-dix),
sont morts dans les Flandres,
pour qu'ils puissent, imperturbables,
marcher devant les autres.
