Da l'alto scintillan profonde

Pe 'l gran firmamento che incurvasi a udir.

Ignudo le nobili forme
Consparso d'un olio d'aroma,
L'amato s'addorme: la sua dolce chioma
Par tutta di neri giacinti fiorir.

Un fiume soave d'oblio.

Bercent le seigneur sur son lit d'or.

Là-haut profondément scintillent
Les étoiles au-dessus de sa tête immortelle ;
Dans le vent ce chant se répand et vole 
À travers le vaste firmament qui se penche pour entendre.

Nu, son beau corps
Recouvert d'huiles parfumées,
Le bien-aimé s'endort ; sa douce chevelure
Fleurit de jacinthes noires.

Des cieux étoilés descend
Un flot suave d'oubli ;
Les fiancées s'inclinant devant le demi-dieu
Boivent avec un long plaisir son souffle.
