Filium ante luciferum genitum:
quem accipiens Simeon in ulnas suas 
praedicavit populis Dominum eum,
esse vitae et mortis, et Salvatorem mundi.

en ontvang uw Koning Christus; 
omhels Maria, die de hemelse poort is, 
want zij draagt de Koning van de glorie, van het nieuwe licht; 

de maagd staat stil en brengt in haar handen de Zoon, 
die vóór de morgenster geboren is; 
Simeon neemt Hem in zijn armen 
en verkondigt aan de volken, dat deze de Heer is 
van leven en dood en de Redder van de wereld.
