by Heinrich Seidel (1842 - 1906)

Wie der Mond kam es gegangen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nimmer weiss ich, wie's gekommen,
War es doch, als müsst' es sein,
Dass mein Herz du hingenommen --
Gar so Heimlich schlich es ein.

So wie Blumen still erblühen,
Wie im Lenz ergrünt der Au,
Wie nach heissen Tages Glühen
Hold und labend sinkt der Thau.

Nicht bestürmt mich wild Verlangen,
Gluthenvoller Sehnsuchtsmacht! --
Wie der Mond kam es gegangen
In der stillen Sommernacht.

Confirmed with Glockenspiel. Gesammelte Gedichte von Heinrich Seidel, siebentes Tausend, Stuttgart und Berlin: J. G. Cotta'sche Buchhandlung Nachfolger, 1903, page 163.
