Les bonnes anguilles et les esturgeons, dont les nobles se régalent, ont même pris la peine d'écouter le prêche. Aucun prêche ne plut autant aux anguilles. Einstmals in einem tiefen Tal Kukuk und Nachtigall Täten ein Wett' anschlagen: Zu singen um das Meisterstück, Gewinn' es Kunst, gewinn' es Glück: Dank soll er davon tragen. Der Kukuk sprach: "So dir's gefällt, Hab' ich den Richter wählt", Und tät gleich den Esel ernennen. "Denn weil er hat zwei Ohren groß, So kann er hören desto bos Und, was recht ist, kennen!" Sie flogen vor den Richter bald. Wie dem die Sache ward erzählt, Schuf er, sie sollten singen. Die Nachtigall sang lieblich aus! Der Esel sprach: "Du machst mir's kraus! Du machst mir's kraus! I-ja! I-ja! Ich kann's in Kopf nicht bringen!" Der Kukuk drauf fing an geschwind Sein Sang durch Terz und Quart und Quint. Dem Esel g'fiels, er sprach nur "Wart! Wart! Wart! Dein Urteil will ich sprechen, Wohl sungen hast du, Nachtigall! Aber Kukuk, singst gut Choral! Und hältst den Takt fein innen! Das sprech' ich nach mein' hoh'n Verstand! Und kost' es gleich ein ganzes Land, So laß ich's dich gewinnen!"

Nous jouissons des joies célestes, Aussi nous pouvons fuir les choses terrestres. Aucun tumulte de ce monde N'est entendu au ciel ! Tout vit dans la paix la plus douce. Nous menons la vie des anges, Pourtant nous en sommes tout à fait heureux ; Nous dansons et nous nous bondissons, Nous sautillons et nous chantons, Saint Pierre dans le ciel nous regarde. Jean laisse sortir le petit agneau, Hérode le boucher le surveille. Nous menons un doux, Innocent, doux, Petit agneau à la mort. Saint Luc abat le bœuf Sans hésitation, sans y prêter attention. Le vin ne coûte pas un sou Dans les caves célestes ; Les Anges, ils font cuire le pain. De bonnes plantes de toutes sortes Poussent dans le jardin céleste ; De bonnes asperges, de bons haricots verts Et tout ce que nous voulons. Tous les plats sont prêts pour nous ! De bonnes pommes, de bonnes poires et des bons raisins ; Les jardiniers, ils permettent tout. Veux-tu du chevreuil, veux-tu un lièvre ? Dans la rue ouverte Ils arrivent en courant ! Un jour de jeûne arrive-t-il, Tous les poissons arrivent joyeusement en nageant ! Saint Pierre arrive déjà Avec son filet et des appâts, À l'étang céleste. Sainte Marthe doit être la cuisinière. Il n'y a aucune musique sur la terre, Qui pourrait être comparée à la nôtre. Onze mille vierges Osent danser. Sainte Ursule elle-même rit de les voir. Cécile ainsi que ses parents Sont d'excellents musiciens ! Les voix des anges Réjouissent les sens, De sorte que tout s'éveille à la joie.
