Ich hab die Nacht geträumet

Language: German (Deutsch)

Ich hab die Nacht geträumet
Wohl einen schweren Traum;
Es wuchs in meinem Garten
Ein Rosmarinenbaum.

Ein Kirchhof war der Garten,
Ein Blumenbeet das Grab,
Und von dem grünen Baume
Fiel Kron' und Blüte ab.

Die Blüten tät ich sammeln
In einen goldenen Krug;
Der fiel mir aus den Händen,
Daß er in [Stücke zerschlug]1.

D'raus sah ich Perlen rinnen
Und Tröpflein rosenrot.
Was mag der Traum bedeuten?
Ach Liebster, bist du tot?

J'ai rêvé cette nuit

Language: French (Français) after the German (Deutsch)

J'ai rêvé cette nuit --
un rêve très-obscur? --
Il fleurissait dans mon jardin, --
il fleurissait une pivoine.

Mon jardin était un cimetière; --
mon lit de fleurs était une tombe, --
et des arbres verts tombaient, --
tombaient couronnes et fleurs.

Je rassemblai les fleurs --
dans une cruche d'or; --
mais la cruche me tomba des mains, --
et se répandit en miettes.

Au loin, je voyais ruisseler des perles
et des stalactites couleur de rose; --
que peut signifier ce rêve ? --
Ah ! mon doux ami, mon ami, es-tu mort ?
