So bist du da? -- willkommen mir! Willkommen hier auf stiller Flur! An Bächleins Rand erneuen wir Vereinter Herzen heil'gen Schwur!

Here is the valley, in which I saw her, By yonder birch her little house; The bell has tolled, the hour has arrived! How long shall my love keep me waiting? That is not Mary’s whispering! Zephyrs sough near and far; In the twilight a bird is greeting The evening star with a merry song. And yet it is the sound of her voice! Thus does the lark call in the blossoming grove To her faithful mate with singing; It is love and melodious sound combined! Are you there then? -- be welcome to me! Be welcome here upon the quiet lea! By the banks of the brook we shall renew The holy vow of united hearts!
