Auf Blumen wunderbar.

Der Geist zerbrach die Schranken,
Des Körpers träges Bley;
Er waltet groß und frey.
Es laben die Gedanken
An Edens Früchten sich;
Der alte Fluch entwich.
Was ich auch je gelitten,
Die Palme ist erstritten,
Gestillet mein Verlangen.
Die Musen selber sangen
Die [Schlang']¹ in Todesschlaf,
Und meine Hand - sie traf.

O unbewölktes Leben!
So rein und tief und klar.

meravellosament damunt les flors.

L’esperit ha trencat les barreres
de l’indolent feixugor del cos;
ell regna magnànim i lliure.
Els pensaments es delecten
amb els fruits de l’Edèn;
la vella maledicció s’ha esfumat.
Per tot el que he sofert
lluitant per el palmó,
està apaivagat el meu desig.
Les muses, elles mateixes, han cantat,
la serpent dorm el son de la mort,
la meva mà la va colpir.

Oh vida serena!
Tan pura i profunda i clara.
