Der Sieg
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
O unbewölktes Leben!
So rein und tief und klar.
Uralte Träume schweben
Auf Blumen wunderbar.

Der Geist zerbrach die Schranken,
Des Körpers träges Bley;
Er waltet groß und frey.
Es laben die Gedanken
An Edens Früchten sich;
Der alte Fluch entwich.
Was ich auch je gelitten,
Die Palme ist erstritten,
Gestillet mein Verlangen.
Die Musen selber sangen
Die [Schlang']1 in Todesschlaf,
Und meine Hand - sie traf.

O unbewölktes Leben!
So rein und tief und klar.
Uralte Träume schweben
Auf Blumen wunderbar.

De overwinning
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
O, onbewolkt licht leven!
Zo rein en diep en klaar.
Oeroude dromen zweven
Over bloemen wonderbaar.

De geest verbrak de schachten,
Van 't lijf het zware lood;
Hij heerst nu vrij en groot.
Nu laven de gedachten
Zich vrij aan Eden's vrucht.
De oude vloek? Gevlucht!
Wat ik ook heb geleden,
De strijd is nu gestreden,
Bevredigd mijn verlangen.
De Muzen zelf, hun zangen
Bedwelmden diep de slang1.
Hard sloeg mijn hand, en lang.

O onbewolkt licht leven!
Zo rein en diep en klaar.
Oeroude dromen zweven
Over bloemen wonderbaar.

1 In de meeste Schubertedities staat het bijbelgetrouwe, door Mayrhofer geschrevene en in de context passende 'slang'; alleen de 'Gesamtausgabe' van Mandyczewski heeft 'sfinx'.
