Mich unwillkürlich hin?
Was seufzt in meinem Busen leise,
Daß ich nicht glücklich bin?
Mein Herz fängt stärker an zu schlagen,
Wenn dich mein [Blick ersieht]1;
Ich wag' es kaum mir selbst zu sagen,
Was hin zu dir mich zieht.

Wohin ich flieh' mit meinem Kummer,
Verfolgt mich auch dein Bild;
Es schwebt mir vor, wenn matter Schlummer
Mein tränend Aug' umhüllt,
Es folgt mir nach im Weltgewühle,
Wie in der Einsamkeit.
Ich fühl's, nur an des Lebens Ziele
Find' ich Zufriedenheit.

Bald möcht' ich vor dir niederknien
Und alles dir gesteh'n,
Bald möcht' ich zitternd vor dir flieh'n
Und dich nie wieder sehn'!
Ich seufz' und weine laut,

¿Qué suspira calladamente en mi pecho,
indicándome que no soy feliz?
Mi corazón comienza más fuerte a latir
cuando mi mirada te descubre;
no oso decirme a mí mismo
lo que hacia ti me atrae.

Donde quiera que huya con mi pena,

flota ante mí, cuando un lánguido sueño
