Ereszkedik le a felhő, Hull a fára őszi eső, Hull a fának a levele, Mégis szól a fülemile. Az óra jó későre jár. Barna kislyány, alszol-e már? Hallod-e a fülemilét, Fülemile bús énekét? Záporeső csak ugy szakad, Fülemile csak dalolgat. Aki bús dalát hallgatja, Megesik a szíve rajta. Barna kislyány, ha nem alszol, Hallgasd, mit e madár dalol; E madár az én szerelmem, Az én elsohajtott lelkem!

Herbstregen auf die Bäume fällt, die Wolke senkt sich nieder, das welke Laub fliegt durch die Welt, und dennoch tönen Lieder! Und dennoch singt die Nachtigall, von Liebe gibt sie Kunde! Hörst du, braun' Lieb', den Zauberschall in später nächt'ger Stunde? Hörst du, braun' Lieb', den Zauberschall, den man vergisst nie wieder? Der Regen fällt! Die Nachtigall singt noch ein Lied um Lieder. Wach' auf und hör' den Liedern zu, der Lieb', der Philomele; wach' auf und hör' den Liedern zu, den Seufzern meiner Seele!
