Wenn der Duft quillt aus der [Blüthe]1 Schooss, wird die Luft mild und die Wonne groß: und der Schmerz flieht, schnell die frohen Reih'n, und ins Herz zieht neues Leben ein. Und ein Wort dringt durch die weite Welt, das da fortklingt bis zum Himmelszelt, das hervorhallt, Hain und Flur entlang, das ins Ohr schallt aus der Vögel Sang: Das voll Macht spricht aus der Blume Pracht, die, erwacht, bricht aus der Knospe Schacht, -- das uns fortreisst selig immer mehr -- Horch, das Wort heisst: Frühlings Wiederkehr.

Spring Is Come Again

When the perfume of the flower exhales, and the young year its delight unveils, then is grief as though it had not been, and the heart feels life renewed within. Then a word rings in the land around unto heaven's arch is upborne the sound. It reechoes mead and wood among, and we hear it through the warbler's song. It is told out by the painted flowers, and it breaks forth from the fragrant bowers. It invites to joys that long remain; hark, the word is: Spring is come again!
