خبردار شدم که فردا
نینا، تو عروس خواهی شد،
و من اما هنوز، آن ترانه‌ی عاشقانه را برایت می‌خوانم.
آنجا، در میان کویر دشت ها،
آنجا، در سایه سار دره ها،
آه، چه بیشمار بار ها که آن را برایت باز خوانده ام!

ای گلبرگ گل سرخ،
ای گل ارغوانی رنگ!
اگر ازدواج کنی هم
من همیشه در کنارت خواهم ماند.

فردا تو را در بر خواهند گرفت
جشن و سرور، لبخند ها و گل ها،
بی آن که دیگر از عشق کهنه‌ی مان اندیشه ای کنی.
اما همواره، شب و روز،
پر از شور و سوز،
