A kdo je nebožtík, ten, ach, si v hrobě poleží; mám strach, ba já mám strach, že zmrtvýchvstání se neudá tak znenadání. Než světýlko mi zhasne mdlé, než ještě pukne srdce mé — kéž na moje se ústa sklání slast posledního milování! A blondýna to musí být a očka mít jak luny svit — neb tenhle brunet plápol žhavý byl neprospěšný mému zdraví. Ta mladá krev je plna šťav a hlučně žádá si všech práv: jak přísahá to, řádí, buší, jak s družkou druh si vraždí duši! Ne příliš zdráv už a ne mlád, já chtěl bych ještě jedenkrát hru lásky žít, snít o životu a šťasten být — však beze hřmotu.
