Der tapfere Schneider

"Ich wollt', ich wär' ein Held und ritt
Als Oberst in den Krieg,
Und tausend Helden reiten mit,
Das giebt den schönsten Sieg.

"Ich wollt', ich wär' ein Kapitän,
Und mein das weite Meer,
Da flieg' ich vor des Sturmes Wehn,
Und fürcht' mich nicht, daher.

"Ich wollt', ich wär' ein Jägersmann,
In Feld und Wald zu Haus,
Den stärksten Löwen fall' ich an.
Und mach' ihm den Garaus.

"Ich wollt', ich wär', ich wollt', ich wär' -
Das Größte ist mir recht!"
Und tapfer zückt die Schneiderscher'
Der Meister zum Gefecht.

Und ritsch und ratsch ins feinste Tuch,
Stürmt er Verhau, Verhack!
Viktoria! - O Schneiderfluch:
Verschnitten ist der Frack.

i que l’ampli mar fos meu,
llavors volaria al vent de les tempestes
i tanmateix no tindria por de res.”

“Voldria ser un caçador
i trobar-me al camp i al bosc com a casa,
atacaria al lleó més fort
i l’escabetxaria.

“Voldria ser, voldria ser
el més gran, això estaria bé!”
I ardit, el mestre desembeina
les tisores per al combat.

I talla que talla a la fina tela
i ell ataca, poti-poti!
Victòria! – Oh maledicció del sastre:
ha tallat el frac.
