Voici que la saison décline
Language: French (Français)
Our translations:  ENG
Voici que la saison décline,
L'ombre grandit, l'azur décroît,
Le vent fraîchit sur la colline,
L'oiseau frissonne, l'herbe a froid.

Août contre septembre lutte ;
L'océan n'a plus d'alcyon ;
Chaque jour perd une minute,
Chaque aurore pleure un rayon.

La mouche, comme prise au piège,
Est immobile à mon plafond ;
Et comme un blanc flocon de neige,
Petit à petit, l'été fond.

Here the season weakens
Language: English  after the French (Français)
Here the season weakens,
The shadow grows, the sky wanes,
The wind cools upon the hill,
The bird shivers, the grass is cold.

August struggles against September;
The ocean has no more kingfishers;
Each day loses a minute,
Each dawn weeps a ray.

The fly, like [prey] in the trap,
Is motionless on my ceiling;
And, like a white snowflake,
Little by little, the summer melts.
