Les trois filles allèrent danser au clair de lune,
La blonde, la châtaine et la brune.
Parut le Diable et leur dit:
Dansez pour moi cette nuit.
Allez, nous n'aurons pas peur
De danser pour vous, Monseigneur,
Le première dansa en levant les bras,
La seconde fit tournoyer ses cheveux,
Mais ce fut la troisième
Qui dansa le mieux.
Dit de Diable: Vous dansez si bien
Que vous reviendrez demain.
La nuit suivante elles dansèrent,
Bien d'autres nuits entières,
Devinrent trois sorcières.
Et quand on passe dans le bois
On entend leurs voix ...

Three young girls danced in the moonlight –
One blond, one auburn and one brunette.
The devil appeared and said to them:
Dance for me this evening.
Go on, we’re not afraid
Of dancing for you, sir,
The first danced with her arms raised,
The second whirled her hair,
But is was the third girl
Who danced best of all.
The devil said: You dance so well
That you will return tomorrow.
They danced the following night,
And through many more nights,
Gradually turning into witches.
And when you travel through the forest
You can hear their voices --
