Nun dämpft die Dämm'rung (Waldemar)
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Danish (Dansk)

Waldemar:
Nun dämpft die Dämm'rung
jeden Ton von Meer und Land,
Die fliegenden Wolken lagerten sich
wohlig am Himmelsrand.
Lautloser Friede schloß dem Forst
die luftigen Pforten zu,
und des Meeres klare Wogen
wiegten sich selber zur Ruh.
Im Westen wirft die Sonne
von sich die Purpurtracht
und träumt im Flutenbette
des nächsten Tages Pracht.
Nun regt sich nicht das kleinste Laub
in des Waldes prangendem Haus;
nun tönt auch nicht der leiseste Klang:
Ruh' aus, mein Sinn, ruh' aus!
Und jede Macht ist versunken
in der eignen Träume Schoß,
und es treibt mich zu mir selbst zurück,
stillfriedlich, sorgenlos.

Il crepuscolo ora smorza
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Waldemar:
Il crepuscolo ora smorza
ogni suono su mare e su terra,
nuvole in viaggio si distendono lievi
su lembi di cielo.
Una silenziosa quiete ha circondato
le ariose soglie del bosco,
e le chiare onde del mare,
sé stesse cullando, si sono calmate.
A occidente il sole ha disteso
il suo mantello di porpora
e sogna, adagiato sui flutti,
lo splendore del giorno seguente.
Ed ora nemmeno la più piccola fronda si muove
nella splendida dimora del bosco;
Ora neppure il suono
più lieve riecheggia, riposa, anima mia, riposa!
E ogni energia è sprofondata
nell'abbraccio dei sogni,
e io sono risospinto verso me stesso,
in silenziosa pace e sciolto da ogni affanno.
