Och finns det en tanke, som dröjer hos mig
när äntligt min timme är slagen,
så skulle den bygga min sista stig
av toner, som bure ett eko i sig
från skogen och sommardagen.

På tonernas brygga jag dröjande gick
i sällsamma drömmar dit över,
av sommar och solsken och böljor jag fick
en sista, förstående avskedsblick,
en sådan, som bäst jag behöver.

Jos olisi joku ajatus, joka viipyisi luonani,
kun loppuni viimein on käsillä,
niin se rakentaisi viimeisen polkuni
sävelistä, jotka kantaisivat kaikua
metsästä ja kesäpäivästä.

Sävelten siltaa pitkin minä vitkastellen kulkisin
ihmeellisiä unia nähden rajan yli,
kesältä ja päivänpaisteelta ja aalloilta saisin
viimeisen, ymmärtävän jäähyväiskatseen,
juuri sellaisen, mitä kipeimmin kaipaisin.
