by Albert Träger (1830 - 1912)

Im Herbst
Language: German (Deutsch)
Vorbei der Rosen Prangen,
Die Blätter flattern im Wind,
Die Rosen auf Deinen Wangen
Verwelkten, Du bleiches Kind,
Gebrochen die Lilien stehen,
Du bist geknickt wie sie;
Alles will schlafen gehen,
Geh' schlafen auch Du, Marie!

Der Sommer ist geschieden,
Der Winter ihn jäh vertrieb,
Und nimmer bleibt Glück und Frieden
Zurück bei verrath'ner Lieb';
Ob auch die Stürme verwehen,
Dir kehrt der Frühling nie:
Alles will schlafen gehen,
Geh' schlafen auch Du, Marie!
