Wenn Du ein Herz gefunden, Das treu mit Dir es meint, In gut' und bösen Stunden Bleib' eng mit ihm vereint. Hörst Du's an Deinem schlagen, Nichts Schön'res hörst Du je, Auf Händen mußt Du's tragen, Und nimmer thu' ihm weh! Heut' darfst Du's Dein noch nennen Was Du in ihm umfaßt, Willst Du's zu spät erkennen, Wenn Du's verloren hast?!

When you have found a heart to understand truly your own, in good and bad times stay closely united with it. When you hear it beating against yours, there is nothing better to hear; you must carry it in your hands and never do it harm! Today if you are permitted still to call yours what you have enfolded in it, will you realize too late when it has been lost to you?
