Ce qui dans un animal était sang et obscurité, a grandit en nous pour devenir âme et continue de crier comme une âme. Et elle crie vers toi. Certes sur ta figure tu ne le prends que comme si c'était un paysage : avec placidité et sans convoitise. Et nous pensons donc que ce n'est pas après toi qu'elle crie. Et pourtant n'es-tu pas celui en qui nous nous serions perdues sans retour ? Et le serons-nous davantage en un autre ? Avec nous passe l'infini. Mais toi, toi bouche, pour que nous entendions, mais toi, toi à-nous-conteur : sois toi.
