Les heures d’aimer passent brèves, Lentes les heures de souffrir. Le mal dont on ne veut guérir S’endort dans la douceur des rêves. Par les rêves nous sont rendus Les baisers lointains des absentes , Les voix autrefois caressantes, Les bonheurs à jamais perdus ! Les rêves nous ouvrent la porte Éclatante du paradis. Ce sont nos espoirs interdits, Que leur aile en fuyant emporte ! Et comme à l’heure des reflux, Sous la chanson des flots, des grèves, S’endort dans la douceur des rêves La détresse de n’aimer plus !

Des cieux à peine vus répétant le mirage, Tendant sur l'horizon leur magique rideau, Les heures vont tombant comme les gouttes d'eau Sous les bois odorants quand a passé l'orage !
