Und wüßten's die Blumen, die kleinen, Wie tief verwundet mein Herz, Sie würden mit mir weinen, Zu heilen meinen Schmerz. Und wüßten's die Nachtigallen, Wie ich so traurig und krank, Sie ließen fröhlich erschallen Erquickenden Gesang. Und wüßten sie mein Wehe, Die [goldnen]1 Sternelein, Sie kämen aus ihrer Höhe, Und sprächen Trost mir ein. [Die]2 alle können's nicht wissen, Nur [eine]3 kennt meinen Schmerz; [Sie]4 hat ja selbst zerrissen, Zerrissen mir das Herz.

Si supieran las florecitas la honda herida de mi corazón, llorarían conmigo para curar mi dolor. Si supieran los ruiseñores qué triste y enfermo estoy, entonarían alegres un canto de alivio. Y si supieran mi pena las estrellitas de oro, bajarían desde lo alto para darme palabras de consuelo. Ninguno de ellos puede saberlo, solo una conoce mi dolor. Ella misma fue la que desgarró, desgarró mi corazón.

Wenn ich auf dem Lager liege In Nacht [und Kissen]1 gehüllt, So schwebt mir vor ein süßes, Anmutig liebes Bild! Wenn mir der stille Schlummer Geschlossen die Augen kaum, So schleicht [das Bild sich leise]2 Hinein in meinen Traum [Doch]3 mit dem Traum des Morgens Zerrinnt es nimmermehr; Dann trag' ich es im Herzen Den ganzen Tag umher.

2. Cuando estoy tumbando en el campo

Cuando estoy tumbando en el campo envuelto en la noche flota sobre mí la dulce, encantadora imagen amada. Cuando el silencioso sueño apenas me ha cerrado los ojos entonces se desliza la amada imagen hacia el interior de mis sueños. Y al llegar la mañana, nunca se deshace con los sueños así que la llevo en el corazón durante todo el día, a un lado y otro.
