Note: White uses "forenes Inett under" as the last line (possibly a typo).

skjøndt endnu den ej er baaren,
jeg giver mit Digt til Vaaren
som Længsler til Længsler lagt.
Saa slutter de to en Pagt --:
at lokke paa Sol med Liste,
saa Vinteren Nød maa friste,
at slippe et Kor af Bække,
saa Sangen ham maa forskrække,
at jage ham ud af Luften
med idelig Blomsterduften, --
jeg giver mit Digt til Vaaren!

J'offre mon poème au printemps,
bien qu'il ne soit pas encore né,
j'offre mon poème au printemps,
où sont couchées tant d'impatiences.
Ainsi tous deux concluront un pacte :
user de ruse pour attirer le soleil
afin que l'hiver éprouve tant de détresse
laisser échapper un chœur des rivières,
afin que les chansons l'effraient,
le chasser hors des airs d'ici
avec le parfum incessant des fleurs ;
j'offre mon poème au printemps !

Om end Rejsen skal blive den sidste, jeg gjør,

jeg forlader din Kyst, ---
jeg maa Storsjøen naa,
jeg maa Havstyrten faa,
jeg maa Kjølen se, naar det krængende skjær',

4. Merci de ton conseil

Merci de ton conseil,
mais je suis maître à bord
dans le grondement des déferlantes
et dans le sifflement des rafales.
Bien que ce voyage devra être le dernier,
je dois essayer ce que je n'ai jamais essayé avant. 

Ce n'est pas par plaisir
que je quitte la côte,
je dois gagner la haute mer,
je dois recevoir des paquets de mer,
je dois voir  la quille approcher les violents récifs,
je dois savoir jusqu'à quand et jusqu'où je le supporterai.
