s'esvaeixen el meu dolor i sofrença;
amb tot, quan beso la teva boca,
esdevinc totalment sa.

Quan em recolzo en el teu pit,
em ve una mena de goig celestial;
però quan em dius: t'estimo!
Llavors he de plorar amargament.

Language: German (Deutsch) 
Der Hans und die Grete tanzen herum,
Und jauchzen vor lauter Freude.
Der Peter steht so still und [stumm]1,
Und ist so blaß wie Kreide.

Der Hans und die Grete sind Bräut'gam und Braut,
Und blitzen im Hochzeitgeschmeide.
Der arme Peter die Nägel kaut
Und geht im Werkeltagskleide.

Der Peter spricht leise vor sich her,
Und [schaut]2 betrübet auf Beide:
« Ach! wenn ich nicht gar zu vernünftig wär',
Ich [thät']3 mir was zu Leide.»

El Joan i la Margarideta ballen a l’entorn,
i llancen crits d’alegria.
El Pere és allà, quiet i mut
i blanc com la cera.

El Joan i la Margarideta són nuvi i núvia,
i fan goig en els seus vestits de casament.
El pobre Pere es mossega les ungles
i va vestit de cada dia.

El Pere parla a si mateix en veu baixa,
mirant afligit a la parella:
“Ai, si no fos tan assenyat
em faria força mal.”

Der arme Peter wankt vorbei,
Gar langsam, leichenblaß und scheu.
Es bleiben fast, wie sie ihn sehn,
Die Leute auf der Straße stehn.

Die Mädchen flüstern sich ins Ohr:
"Der stieg wohl aus dem Grab hervor?"
Ach nein, ihr lieben Jungfräulein,
Der steigt erst [ins]1 Grab hinein.

Er hat verloren seinen Schatz,
Drum ist das Grab der beste Platz,
Wo er am besten liegen mag
Und schlafen bis zum jüngsten Tag.

lent, pàl·lid i esquerp.
Al carrer, la gent s’aturen
al veure’l passar.

Les noies es diuen a l’orella:
“Potser ha sortir de la tomba?”
No pas, estimades noietes,
ell està per entrar-hi.

Ell ha perdut el seu tresor,
i per això, la tomba és el millor lloc
on ell s’estima més jaure
i dormir fins al Judici Final.

Als könnt die Grete heilen;
Doch wenn ich der ins Auge seh',
Muß ich von hinnen eilen.

"Ich steig' hinauf des Berges Höh',
Dort ist man doch alleine;
Und wenn ich still dort oben steh',
Dann steh' ich still und weine."

que vol fer esclatar el meu cor;
i allà on sóc i allà on vaig,
sempre m’empeny endavant.

M’empeny a prop de l’estimada
com si la Margarideta em pogués guarir,
però quan la miro als ulls,
haig de fugir lluny d’aquí.

Pujo a dalt de la muntanya,
allà es pot estar ben sol,
i quan estic tranquil allà dalt
llavors resto silent i ploro.”
