[Schließe mir]1 die Augen beide

[wie]4 der letzte Schlag sich [reget]5,
füllest du mein ganzes Herz.

1. Close both my eyes
Language: English
Close both my eyes
with your dear hands;
So everything that I suffer
goes to rest under your hand.
And as silently the pain,
wave by wave, goes to sleep;
as the last blow falls,
you fill my whole heart.

2. Im Zimmer  [sung text not yet checked]
by Willy Rössel (1877 - 1947), "Im Zimmer", op. 12 (Drei Lieder für eine mittlere Singstimme, Viola und Klavier) no. 2, published 192-? [ medium voice, viola, piano ]
Language: German (Deutsch)
Herbstsonnenschein.
Der liebe Abend blickt so still herein.
Ein Feuerlein rot
Knistert im Ofenloch und loht.
So, mein Kopf auf deinen Knie'n,
So ist mir gut.
Wenn mein Auge so in deinem ruht,
Wie leise die Minuten zieh'n.

2. In the chamber
Language: English
Autumn sunlight.
The lovely evening peers so quietly in.
A little red fire
crackles in the stove and flares up.
And with my head upon your knee,
I am contented.
When my eyes rest in yours,
how gently do the minutes pass!

3. Die Hütte  [sung text not yet checked]
by Willy Rössel (1877 - 1947), "Die Hütte", op. 12 (Drei Lieder für eine mittlere Singstimme, Viola und Klavier) no. 3, published 192-? [ medium voice, viola, piano ]
Language: German (Deutsch)
Aus einem dunklen Forste drängt sich ein Hüttlein klein,
auf seinen glühenden Fenstern zuckt sterbend der Abendschein.
Auf seiner Schwelle träumet ein junges Menschenpaar.
Ihr Haupt ruht an seiner Schulter, seine Lippe streift ihr Haar!
Aus finsterem Waldesschweigen tritt sacht die Nacht heraus,
da schreiten eng umschlungen die Beiden in ihr Haus.
Ein Lichtlein ist drin erglommen, doch hat's nicht lang gewacht,
um die stumme dunkle Hütte kreist sternenhell die Nacht.
