And though you have not been granted to me, I have acquiesced in the will of the Lord; But for only a single hour let me Live in the peace of devoted love for you! Let me dream the golden images, Though they are soon to pass away! For in them my sorrow is lightened, My God! Can you wish to deny me that? --

"Und bist du mir auch nicht beschieden" = "And though you have not been granted to me"
I want to bear you up with my hands And to be a guardian angel for you, I want to place my young soul Entirely within your dear heart. I would not ask anything at all for myself, But for you alone, everything; Ah, if I could exist so entirely in you, It would be a blessing for me as well!
