from Volkslieder (Folksongs)
Translation by Albert Werfer (1815 - 1885)

Rosmarin und Salveiblättlein
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Alemannic
Rosmarin und Salveiblättlein
Schenk' ich dir zum Abschiedsgruß,
Und dies sei mein letzt' Gedenken,
Weil ich dich verlassen muß.1

Warst mir treu so viele Jahre,
Hast mir viel zu lieb gethan,
Meine Äugelein die fließen,
Daß ich nichts mehr sagen kann.

Confirmed with Gedichte von Albert Werfer, Tübingen: H. Laupp'schen Buchhandlung, 1851. Appears in Vermischte Gedichte, page 73.

1 note: many folksong anthologies have another verse here, but it is absent from the publication cited above:
Was mich drückt, ich darf's nicht sagen,
Muß verschweigen meine
Darf mein Elend niemand klagen,
Muß dabei noch fröhlich sein.
