Es kommen Blätter, es kommen Blüten, doch keinen Frühling erlebt mein Herz, ich sitzte trauernd ein Grab zu hüten, und [um]1 Cypressen schweift mein Schmerz. Die sanften Lüfte, fühl', wie sie kosen, die hohen Sterne, sieh', wie sie glüh'n, der neue Sommer bringt neue Rosen, und nur für Einen soll keine blüh'n? Für mich wird nimmer ein Kranz gewunden, an meinem [Herzen]2 sind all' verdorrt. [Es]3 wächst ein Kräutlein, das heilt die Wunden, das Kraut "Vergessen" - wer kennt den Ort? Wer darf vergessen der je besessen, was tief im Herzen [so teuer]4 war. Doch gibt's ein Gärtchen, da steh'n Cypressen, die tragen Rosen im dunklen Haar.
