Und verstoßen vom Geschick.

O du Schicksal: ohne Liebe!
Welche Hand ist's, die mich hält?
Nicht geliebt von keiner Liebe,
Als vom Unglück in der Welt.

An angel might well love it,
An angel who is in its service.
 
It is sad to have been born
Joyless and without good fortune
Not chosen by humankind,
And rejected by fate.
 
Oh you fate: without love!
What hand is it that holds me?
Not loved by any love
Other than by the misfortune in the world.
