  Lindes Rauschen in den Wipfeln,
Vöglein, die ihr fernab fliegt,
Bronnen von den stillen Gipfeln,
Sagt, wo meine Heimat liegt?

  Heut' im Traum sah ich sie wieder,
Und von allen Bergen ging
Solches Grüßen zu mir nieder,
Daß ich an zu weinen fing.

  Ach! hier auf den fremden Gipfeln:
Menschen, Quellen, Fels und Baum --
Wirres Rauschen in den Wipfeln
Alles ist mir wie ein Traum.

Muntre Vögel in den Wipfeln,
Ihr Gesellen dort im Tal,
Grüßt mir von den fremden Gipfeln
Meine Heimat tausendmal!

pajarillo que vuela lejos,
fuente de las silenciosas cumbres,
decidme: ¿dónde queda mi tierra?

Hoy en sueños los he vuelto a ver
y de todas las montañas
me han llegado tales recuerdos
que he roto a llorar.

¡Ay, aquí en las cumbres extranjeras
gentes, fuentes, roca y árbol…
el murmullo confuso de las copas 
todo es como un sueño para mí!

¡Alegre pájaro de las copas de los árboles,
vosotros, compañeros allá en el valle,
desde estas cumbres extranjeras mandad
mil saludos a mi tierra!
