Ich dachte dein in tiefer Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Persian (Farsi)
Our translations:  ENG
  Ich dachte dein in tiefer Nacht;
Da leuchtete mit heller Macht,
Mit plötzlicher, die Finsterniß,
Und wurde klar, wie Morgenpracht.

  Zu jener Stunde hat gewiß,
Dein Auge, Liebchen, auch gewacht,
Zu jener Stunde hat gewiß,
In Liebe mein dein Herz gedacht.

I thought of you in the deep night
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
  I thought of you in the deep night,
Then suddenly with bright power,
The darkness shone,
And became as clear as morning splendour.

  At that hour most certainly
Your eyes, darling, were also keeping watch;
At that hour most certainly
Your heart lovingly thought of me.
