Ingerid Sletten af Sillegjord
havde hverken sølv eller guld;
men en liten hue af farvet uld,
som hun havde fåt udaf mor.

En liden hue af farver uld,
havde hverken stas eller fo'r;
men fattigt minne om far og mor,
der skinned langt mer' end guld.

Hun gemte huen i tyve år,
måtte ikke slide den ud!
Så bærer jeg den så glad som brud,
når jeg for alteret går.

Hun gemte huen i tredive år,
måtte ikke skæmme den ud!
så bærer jeg den så glad som brud,
når jeg for vor Herre står.

Hun gemte huen i fireti år,
hugsede endnu på sin mor,
»vesle min hue, forvist jeg tror,
vi aldrig for alteret står.«

Hun ganger for kisten at tage den,
hjærtet var så stort derved;
hun leder frem til dens gamle sted,
da var der ikke tråden igen.
