Mon âme écoute et je soulève
Un peu mes paupières vers lui.

Un rayon de lumière touche
La pâle fleur de mes yeux bleus;
Une flamme éveille ma bouche,
Un souffle éveille mes cheveux.

Et mon âme, comme une rose
Tremblante, lente, tout le jour,
S'éveille à la beauté des choses,
Comme mon âme  à leur amour.

Het witte ochtendgloren zegt aan mijn droom:
'wakker worden, de zon schijnt'.
Mijn ziel luistert en mijn oogleden
zijn hem nu ook een beetje genegen. 

Een straal licht raakt
het bleke van mijn blauwe ogen;
een vlam wekt mijn mond,
een briesje wekt mijn haar.  

En mijn ziel, als een roos
trilt, langzaam, de dag lang,
maakt zich wakker aan de schoonheid van alles,
zoals mijn ziel aan hun liefde.
