Εισ ερωτα αροτριωντα

Λαμπάδα θεὶς καὶ τόξα βοηλάτιν εἵλετο ῥάβδον
οὖλος Ἔρως, πήρην δ̓ εἶχε κατωμαδίην,
καὶ ζεύξας ταλαεργὸν ὑπὸ ζυγὸν αὐχένα ταύρων
ἔσπειρεν Δηοῦς αὔλακα πυροφόρον.
5εἶπε δ̓ ἄνω βλέψας αὐτῷ Διί: ‘πλῆσον ἀρούρας,
μή σε τὸν Εὐρώπης βοῦν ὑπ̓ ἄροτρα βάλω.’

Un zaino tolse, e un pungolo, al giogo avvinse i buoi.

«O Giove, or tu propizio seconda il mio lavoro,
O per arar qui tornoti, qual per Europa, in toro.»
